Please welcome Carol Sheetz! She is such a sweet lady and an amazing crafter! You need to take some time to look around on her website. I also wanted Carol to tell you a little about herself in her own words.
I’m married to Dave, a wonderful man who is very supportive of my paper crafting. I’m a SAHM to two wonderful daughters (Emily is 12 and Jessica is 10). We have a dog, Princess, who is an Australian Shepherd, spoiled rotten, and we love her very much. I’ve been crafting for over 10 years now. I started out as a scrapbooker, but I’m definitely in love with stamping and card making. I also love altering items. I’m a garage sale junky, and I’m constantly on the lookout for great finds to use in my crafting. I’m on the Sketches! {by Tamara} card design team, and I would LOVE to be on another design team! (If anyone is interested, feel free to email me!!!)
This is just another fun picture of Carol I had to share! :) Doesn't she just seem like a great person to hang out with?!
I also asked Carol a few questions I thought would be fun to hear answers to.
How did you get started with crafts?
Well, I’ve been keeping photo albums and scrapbooks since I was young. I would put photos in those magnetic albums (with the bad acidic glue), and attach Dymo labels under the photos. Who knew Dymo would stand the test of time? I used to also save every single card that I was given, and I would keep them in an album. It was after getting married and having our first daughter that I really wanted to scrapbook. I purchased a QVC kit presented by Lisa Bearnson, and I haven’t looked back since! Since then, I’ve also become addicted to stamping and card making!
How much time per day do you spend on your crafts? Is it enough? :)
I definitely don’t spend enough time on crafting! I try to sit down to do something creative at least once a day. Even if I sit down just to clean up and organize my desk, I like taking a little bit of time to do what I really enjoy. Being near all of my wonderful crafting supplies really inspires me!
What is your favorite craft item to use or project to make?
I have a lot of favorite craft items! While I like my Cricut, I would have to say that I love my Cuttlebug. The large embossing folders are my absolute favorite! I also love my Bind It All. Some other favorites are Primas, rhinestones, brads, ribbon, and Stickles. My favorite projects are two things really . . . I love to create a scrapbook page that preserves a special memory for our family, and I love to create a card that I know the recipient will love.
Where do you get your inspiration (for your stamp creating or card making)?
I’m inspired by a lot of things, including a new product, a pretty sheet of paper, a clever magazine ad, my girls, everyday things, etc. I’m really enjoying having a blog, and I love visiting other blogs. I’ve made so many wonderful blogging friends! I really think most of my inspiration is just doing what I like and what appeals to me.
Do you have any advice for fellow crafters out there? Words of wisdom, perhaps? :)
Don’t ever think that there is a right way and a wrong way to craft. Just do what you like! Find inspiration is everyday things, have fun, and enjoy what you create!
Here is a little sample of Carol's work! She does such a wonderful job. Thankfully Carol sent me some pictures so I didn't have to pick! They are all so fabulous!
I hope you have enjoyed meeting Carol and Featured Crafter Friday. If you would like to be featured, please send me an email! I would be more than happy to include you! See you next Friday for another wonderful crafter!
